PS Plus – July 2017

Reminder – If you are a PS Plus member, remember to add the games to your library each month, you don’t HAVE to download them. Even if you don’t think you’ll ever play it, it is worth having in your library just in case. You never know what is going to take you by surprise!

On my quest to play all sorts of different games, I have decided it would be fun to go back and play through my library of PS Plus games that I have never even looked at. I am (eventually) going to go through each month, from most to least recent, trying out these games and having my say about each one. I do hope this can be helpful to someone but if not, at least I’m finally trying these games!

P.S. I am only going to go through the PS4 games for now. Between my huge backlog and my slow old console, I’ve decided that will be best. Since I am not yet playing the PS3 titles, I am going to write a quick summary from the info I find from my friend Google, just for my own future benefit/anyone curious about the full months line-up!

PS4 – Until Dawn

Until Dawn™_20151227145910

Until Dawn is a Survival Horror, interactive movie style game, developed by Supermassive Games. I already own this game, in fact I got it for Christmas at the same time as my PS4. It probably would have been my first PS4 game but it took a long time to download. I wrote a full review of it on this website if you are interested, so I will just write a brief summary here.

If you are a fan of horror movies then I suggest playing this game, even if you are not a gamer. The best way to go into it is first – blind – and second – not too seriously. It is like a love letter to campy horror films. It is full of clichéd characters and clichéd moments, and yet somehow it works. The graphics are wonderful and the atmosphere is haunting. I personally cannot deal with horror but I love choose your own adventure type games. I managed to get exactly half way through before I needed help. If you are like me, it helps to turn the volume down, play during the day and have someone else in the room with you. Just whatever you do, don’t google what’s going to happen because that will spoil it. If you are not like me, please, play in the pitch black in the dead of night and absorb that atmosphere. Or, get together a group of friends, assign characters to each other and pass the controllers around. Girls vs boys works well for this as I would say they get an equal amount of play time. You might be surprised at how much fun you have. I really think everyone should give this game a go, in which ever way it works for you. It is definitely one of a kind!

PS4 – Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones_20170709185116

Game of Thrones is another interactive movie type of game but this one is of the episodic nature and was developed by Telltale Games. I, again, already own this game, except this time, I purposely haven’t played it. I haven’t seen any of the TV series yet but it is on my watch list. I read that this game spoils up to Season 3 of the show so if you are in the same boat as me, I suggest sitting on this one. I can, however, pass some information on that I have read. Telltale have a lot of great games but this, for whatever reason, isn’t classed as one of them.

Edit – I have since watched the whole show and played this game, and all I want to say is please do not sleep on it. I completely disagree with the reviews and would probably rank it as my second favourite Telltale Game after Tales from the Borderlands. What an experience I had.

PS4 – That’s You

That's You!™_20170728152852

That’s You is a PlayLink party game developed by Wish Studios and is actually free on PS Plus until October. What PlayLink means is that you can use your smartphones or tablets as controllers, making the game more accessible as a family game. You have to download the app and everything else is really straight forward and painless.

First Impressions – after a game with my Mam, we laughed a lot, but it was very short. The aim of the game (at least with two players) is to match your answers and prove you know each other well. It makes great use of the phone cameras and the drawing function is fun, and the best thing is that it is really easy to use. My Mam is a bit of a technophobe and she had no trouble. I don’t think I have had full experience yet as it is aimed at more players, but as a family that has played a lot of Buzz and Scene It in the past, the new PlayLink system seems really promising for these fun party games in the future. To sum up, I can’t say I’d be happy if I had paid for it but it is a fun little game for a free laugh.

PS4/Vita – Don’t die, Mr. Robot!

Don't Die Mr Robot_20170727181941

Don’t die, Mr. Robot! Is an indie arcade game developed by Infinite State Games. The aim of the game is in the title. Try to survive by avoiding the many different enemy robots wandering onto the screen and collect fruit to get rid of robots/gain points. When you touch a robot you die. There are 50 different levels with different goals e.g. survive for XX seconds, collect XX fruit, then there are other modes. Arcade mode is like endless mode to see how long you can survive on your one life. There are also two other modes. Time attack mode is where you have a set 2 minutes and 30 seconds to score as highly as possible. The robots seem to be moving double speed, but when you die you come back after 10 seconds. Lastly there is Chill Out mode. Again, an endless mode, but this time everything seems to be moving at half speed. My favourite would have been Time Attack mode but 10 seconds feels like a really long time when you are waiting for your replacement robot.

I appreciate the details in the game, for example there are a lot of customisation options for your little robot, and overall it’s a nice little time killer on the vita, but I don’t really find it too fun as a console game.

Vita – Element4l

Element4l is an indie platformer developed by I-illusions. Since I don’t have a Vita I won’t get to try this one but from looking at screenshots, it looks the most similar to Type:Rider, which is a game I found fun at first, but I became increasingly angry with it. It seems to have average to above average reviews. I’m not too sad to be missing out on this one.

PS3 – Tokyo Jungle

Tokyo Jungle is an action/survival game developed by Crispy’s! It is set in Tokyo, after… the apocalypse I guess. Humans are no more but wild animals roam the streets. You can play as lots of different animals as you try to survive. I actually read about this game recently and fancied trying it out so I am stoked that it is free. No doubt this will be one of the first PS3 games I download when I eventually get around to it. Whether the game is as good as it sounds however is yet for me to discover.

PS3 – Darkstalkers Resurrection

Darkstalkers Resurrection is a 2D fighting game developed by Iron Galaxy Studios. It is the latest in the Darkstalkers series and it plays in the same vein as the Tekken and Street Fighter games. It has some pretty good reviews so if you are a fan of the genre then definitely check it out.

Summary – In a similar thought to April ‘17, I feel like That’s You – like Drawn to Death – shouldn’t be advertised in the monthly line ups and instead should go in the free game section of the PS Store. Other than that, I actually think this is a very solid month. I would be raving about it if I didn’t already own half the games. A particularly solid month for people that enjoy story based games, and the people that skipped Until Dawn, not because they didn’t want to play it but because they didn’t want to buy it. As it seems, people appear to have really embraced it so I do hope this is the beginning of the expansion of the genre.

Did you enjoy July’s games?

PS Plus – April 2017

Reminder – If you are a PS Plus member, remember to add the games to your library each month, you don’t HAVE to download them. Even if you don’t think you’ll ever play it, it is worth having in your library just in case. You never know what is going to take you by surprise!

PS4 – Drawn to Death

Drawn to Death™_20170727160118

Drawn to Death is an online multiplayer shooter developed by The Bartlet Jones Supernatural Detective Agency. It is third person and takes place in the form of sketches on paper. It is actually the first game that I have came across that had its initial release on PS Plus. You would think that would be a great idea for an online multiplayer wouldn’t you? Instant player base and all that. But sadly, the game didn’t seem to be too well received.

I have only recently started exploring online multiplayer shooter games. First with Paladins, which is free, then I did an Overwatch trial weekend (I actually preferred Paladins). I am not very good at the games but I am starting to appreciate why people like them. I have had a lot of fun and it feels great when your team wins. Drawn to Death had some modes that I haven’t played before which were very interesting. Core Deathmatch – where you earn a point for a kill and lose a point for a death, was particularly interesting to me, although it doesn’t suit me well because I constantly die in these games, I just try to take the killer with me. Having said that, out of three people I came second, so I was quite pleased with that. The tutorial was ok but I see why people aren’t keen on the style of the game. It constantly throws insults at you but they aren’t particularly funny. I feel like it TRIES to have a lot of humour and personality rather than just having it. I was queued for a couple of minutes for my match with three people, so I am wondering whether this game struggles with its player base. There are 50% of players that have got the trophy for their first kill, yet there are only 9% that have the trophy for completing 10 matches.

I think it is worth a try if you are interested in the Genre, since it is free, but I personally would rather play Paladins. Between the art style (I love what they tried to do but sometimes the menu screens felt a little overwhelming and too messy and busy) and the gameplay, it almost feels more like a Beta that still needs polishing around the edges.

PS4 – Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime_20170727134506

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is a couch co-op side scroller for up to four players, developed by Asteroid Base. Anti-love is destroying the Spacetime and it’s up to the lovers to save it. If you, like me, aren’t so keen on side scrollers, I think this one is worth a shot. It is kind of a platformer within a side scroller. It is action packed and exceeded my expectations. In my head I thought it was going to be like Laser Disco Defenders from Mays PS Plus, but other than the colour scheme, it is nothing like it.

All I knew about it going in was that it is suggested a lot when people ask for couch co-op recommendations. Now I know why. The game is simple at its core, you man a spaceship with guns, shields and maps. The tricky part is when you are trying to shoot, shield and navigate at the same time. This is where the multiplayer should get interesting. For me, personally, it is not a game that I am interested in playing on my own. However, I think it could be an absolute BLAST with friends and family. Teamwork is going to be very important to successfully navigate the campaigns and I imagine a lot of shouting, screaming, fist bumps, yelling orders, high fives, and a lot of heated fun. I am very much looking forward to piloting my ship to success once I recruit someone to play with me. It is colourful, frantic, and a great example of how a game in a certain genre can appeal to a wider audience and draw people in who don’t usually enjoy it. The PS4 seriously needs more couch co-op titles, it’s sad how they seem to be dying out.

PS4/Vita – 10 Second Ninja X

10 Second Ninja X_20170727141813

10 Second Ninja X is a fast paced platformer developed by Four Circle Interactive. If you are fan of speed runs, quick thinking and puzzles, this game might be for you. I find myself comparing it to Sonic, not in the way that the game is played, but because, like sonic, the first challenge is memorising the maps, but then executing it is a whole other challenge. See the aim of the game is simple. Clear the level in 10 seconds. And it is so much harder than it sounds.

This game provides an interesting challenge, and as addictive as it feels, it can be equally as frustrating. Between getting electrocuted to death, running out of ninja stars, missing a jump and timing out, the game is quite unforgiving. Take the level I am on right now. I have probably died 50 times just while figuring out how to tackle it. Now that I have figured it out, I have probably died another 50 times just trying to time everything right. If that type of challenge appeals to you then most definitely try out this game. I can see why people like it. Yes, when you keep dying it makes you want to kill someone, but once you finally nail the level, it’s such a feeling of accomplishment. If you are like me and have a fuse the length of.. well.. a level of this game, then you will get frustrated quickly. For the sake of my controllers I have decided not to play on, but I appreciate this game immensely for what it is and I hope that many other people give it a chance and enjoy it.

PS4/Vita – Curses ‘N Chaos

Curses 'N Chaos_20170727144947

Cures ‘N Chaos is a retro, arcade, wave brawler developed by Tribute Games. Anyone who has read any of my previous entries will already have guessed that this game is not at all for me. I didn’t know anything about it going in and based on the icon artwork, I was extremely surprised it is not only 2D, but that very old pixely 2D, and sadly, it really doesn’t look great on a 40+ inch TV. The background was so busy that sometimes I was struggling to see what was going on.

Not only the graphics, but the gameplay wasn’t for me. My favourite games are story based, I have never really been able to get joy out of brawlers and this is no exception. I can’t even tell you whether it is a good brawler because I just don’t know the genre. I CAN say – I preferred playing Streets of Rage on the Sega Megadrive Ultimate Collection on PS3 to this. Other details for this game that may be of interest – there is 2P couch co-op, there are more mechanics behind just punch punch punch, with objects and such, but I honestly couldn’t force myself to figure them out. If you are a retro gamer then definitely give it a shot but if not, my honest opinion is just skip it.

PS3 – Alien Rage

Alien Rage is a Sci-Fi FPS developed by CI Games. It has below average to average reviews, notably stating that it doesn’t do anything different to any other FPS and it has quite a high difficulty, which is great for some but not so much for others.

PS3 – Invizimals: The Lost Kingdom

Invizimals: The Lost Kingdom is a 3D adventure platformer developed by Magenta Software. Again, this title has very average reviews. There are 16 characters to play in total to solve puzzles and battle your way through the game.

Summary – This is the first time in my ‘Quest’ that I have had to play all four PS4 games since I don’t own any of them. Honestly, for me, it is a pretty disappointing month. The more I think about it, Drawn to Death was probably going to release as a free game anyway, they could have released it separately and given us another PS4 title with a little more substance. The other PS4 titles – apart from Curse ‘N Chaos – were surprisingly good, just sadly not up my alley. Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime, however, has made me thirsty for some couch co-op action so I have to be grateful for that!

Did you enjoy Aprils selections? Any favourites? Any disappointments?

PS Plus – May 2017

Reminder – If you are a PS Plus member, remember to add the games to your library each month, you don’t HAVE to download them. Even if you don’t think you’ll ever play it, it is worth having in your library just in case. You never know what is going to take you by surprise!

PS4 – Tales from the Borderlands

Tales from the Borderlands_20170218142924

Tales from the Borderlands is an episodic space opera game, developed by Telltale Games. It is based on the FPS series Borderlands, delivered in the usual story driven way of other Telltale Games, with lots of decision making and QTE’s. We follow our main characters, Rhys and Fiona, as they risk their lives on the shady planet of Pandora, in their quest for riches. You don’t have to have played any of the Borderlands games to enjoy this story and in fact, I would encourage going in blind. I did and I had an absolute blast discovering this new world and characters as the story went on.

Tales from the Borderlands is the first game that I already own that has popped up on PS Plus. And to be honest, I am not even mad. In fact, I was happier than I should have been. I was so pleased that other people will hopefully get to experience the same joy that I got from this game. Not only were there some great visuals, the story was engaging, the characters were all likable for their own reasons, the dialogue was fantastic and the humour was the best in any game that I have ever played. Months down the line and I still get a huge smile on my face just thinking about this game. Now, after catching up on a few more Telltale Games I can confirm that this is still my favourite and it is probably going to go down in history as one of my favourite gaming experiences ever.

Wait. Please don’t buy into my hype, I think one of the reasons that I loved it so much was because it was such an unexpected Gem. Just go and play it and see what you think, I really don’t think you will be disappointed (unless you hate story based, interactive movie type games. Then you’ll hate it.). Plus, if you are into trophy hunting, it’s the easiest platinum you’ll ever get! I wrote a full review at the time of playing. If anyone is interested, check out the Game Reviews section!

PS4 – Alienation

ALIENATION™_20170612182730.jpg

Alienation is a campaign shooter/RPG, developed by Housemarque. It is set on a future Earth, which has almost been taken over by aliens. Being the noob that I am, I’m not even sure the technical term for this kind of shooter. In Third Person Shooters the camera is usually over the shoulder and it’s most definitely not a First Person Shooter. It is not a Top-Down game either, yet there are other games like it, so it must have a name. It is a 3D game where the character is on the screen but you aren’t playing from their point of view. How’s that? Dear God, I need to learn some more lingo.

Onto the game itself. It is an online game where you can either team up with strangers or friends, play solo, or play with others in your own home. Couch co-op is so criminally underused in general, I really appreciate that this game has it but sadly I doubt that I will ever use it. The RPG elements include choosing your class and assigning skill points. There are also unlockables and more customisation as the game goes on. The campaign screen is a stylish, futuristic map of the world and your missions will show up as and when you get to them. I imagine that as you go on you will travel all over the world which will provide an interesting variety. The controls are twin-stick, being that the left stick controls your character and the right stick aims your weapon. I only did one mission and decided quite quickly that I would not be carrying on, simply because it is not my type of game. The mission that I did included going from A-B numerous times, killing everything in my way. If that sounds good to you then you really should try it, I am just learning more and more each day that I am not so keen on games that are solely about combat.

PS4/Vita – Laser Disco Defenders

Laser Disco Defenders_20170612160036

Laser Disco Defenders is a colourful, side-scrolling, arcade shooter developed by Out of Bounds. You play as a band in an intergalactic music war. The controls are straight forward twin-stick, but the game itself is surprisingly challenging. Every shot fired stays on the map, creating the interesting challenge of not only avoiding your enemies shots, but avoiding your own. There is the main story where you complete objectives to unlock rewards, and there is endless mode where you can see how far you can get before getting a Game Over.

If I am being completely honest, this is not my kind of game at all. Sadly, arcade type games are lost on me. It can be the coolest version available and I wouldn’t even know because I just don’t enjoy the game play. I completed a few objectives but even the funky story and visuals – which seems to have been created when the writers were high in the 70’s – can’t pull me in enough to enjoy it. I do think this has an interesting spin that would be a great challenge to fans of the genre, but I am less of a ‘one shot one kill’ type and more of a ‘hail of bullets’ type gamer, which apparently seems to be my downfall. There is no platinum trophy but a lot of them are very rare. How you interpret that, of course, is up to you.

PS4/Vita – Type:Rider

Type:Rider_20170612142422

Type:Rider is a charming side-scroller puzzle game developed by Ex Nihilo. I have got to admit, from watching the trailer I didn’t think I was going to like this game. I don’t mind time sink puzzle games on the move so I assumed it would be an ok game for Vita, but I wasn’t bothered about having it on my PS4. I started up the game and was immediately impressed with the atmosphere, even in the tutorial. You go through each level, collecting letters of the alphabet, and asterisks which unlock pages of your books. The books take you through the history of language and typography, which is also reflected in the level design. Honestly, I have never thought about where our language came from but I am absolutely fascinated, and I will never look at fonts in the same way again. I haven’t played an ‘educational’ game since my school days, but if you are ever in the mood for learning something, I definitely suggest giving this game a go.

Not only are there the regular levels to finish, there are also speed runs and hidden collectibles, giving the game some replayability. It could definitely keep you entertained for a long flight or a few commutes if you use a Vita. Again, there is no platinum trophy but it seems easy and interesting enough to 100% without grinding at all. Overall, this game has exceeded my expectations and I am actually looking forward to completing it, even if it is only to read more of the interesting history. I feel like if you took Sonic the Hedgehog, gave it a dark, historic ambiance, added some education and displayed it in a museum, you would get Type:Rider.

Edit: It was only after continuing on with this game that I realised how absolutely infuriating it can be. The balls move very slowly and the whole balance mechanic just doesn’t sit right with me. As much as I appreciate that they are trying to be creative and implement new mechanics each level, some are just downright annoying and distracting. I have now characterised this game under – things to play when I want to raise my blood pressure.

PS3 – Blood Knights

Blood Knights is a Hack and Slash RPG developed by Deck13 Interactive. It seems to have the same camera style as Alienation (not first or third person, or top-down… hopefully you know what I mean by now) but also is a vastly different game. It is set in a war between humans and vampires.

PS3 – Port Royale 3: Pirates and Merchants

Port Royale 3 is a business sim/resource management/strategy game developed by Gaming Minds Studio. It is the third in the series following its two predecessors, and is set during the 17th century in the Caribbean.

Summary – I feel like, since I am supposed to be open minded, I am actually becoming less tolerant of games that I don’t immediately like. But yet in both months there has been a nice surprise that I never would have picked up, and it’s a funny coincidence that they are both Vita titles. As far as the overall months go, I am already spotting a trend. One story based game, one online shooter, one quirky portable game and one arcade shooter. It will be interesting to see, not only whether the new up and coming months follow this trend but whether the previous months do too.

Note to Playstation/Sony – You know I asked to be able to edit the trophy list last time? Well I have another problem, just as important, first world and OCD as the first one. Please let us organise our Library. Folders on the main screen is great and all but folders in the library would be so much more useful. I have 127 games here and probably half of them are demos. So that’s my request, folders in library and the ability to delete demos. Or just the first one would do then I could put all of my demos into a folder.

How did you enjoy May’s line-up? Love it? Hate it? Hidden Gems?

PS Plus – June 2017

On my quest to play all sorts of different games, I have decided it would be fun to go back and play through my library of PS Plus games that I have never even looked at. My first month of PS Plus was January 2016, and back then I only used to claim the PS4 games. My PS3 is slow as anything and I couldn’t be bothered to turn it on and attempt to get on the PS Store each month. It was only recently that I realised that if you use your computer you can ‘purchase’ all the free games in a few seconds. When I was in Australia I literally guided my Mam through the PS store on my PS4 via video call, if only I knew. It’s great now that I realise that it’s easier, but it is also sad to see the games that I missed, all because I was clueless. I am (eventually) going to go through each month, from most to least recent, trying out these games and having my say about each one. I hope this can be helpful to someone!

P.S. I am only going to go through the PS4 games for now. I have got a backlog as big as.. well.. it’s big, so I will alternate my free games with my bought games and away we go!

PS4 – Killing Floor 2

Killing Floor 2_20170606193038

Killing Floor 2 is a horror themed, survival FPS developed by Tripwire Interactive. It is a sequel to Killing floor and, although there is a solo mode, is best played multiplayer. I loaded up this game not knowing what to expect but knowing that a lot of people seemed happy with it. As soon as I saw the mutated looking Golum I felt the dread creep in. I don’t do horror. I literally just had a scary zombie dream the previous night (I have them quite regularly but they aren’t usually scary (I have been watching IZombie recently if that helps (It probably doesn’t))) where I woke up and crapped my pants to find my poodles afro right in front of my face. Suffice to say I did not intend on playing a horror game today. I entered the tutorial and to my dismay – zombies. Or at least zombie type creatures. To my other dismay, that’s when I discovered it was a first person shooter. I don’t do those either. Well.. that’s a lie. I am trying with them. I recently tried to get into Paladins to help ease me in and although I’m not.. well.. I’m shit at it.. I don’t shy AS much away from FPS as I used to. Horror and FPS in the same game though? That is too much for me. Please, give me some credit, I did actually defeat the first wave. The game felt very much like a COD game I once tried (it came with my console) in movement and combat. I cleared the first wave, got to the ammo shop, then bailed 10 seconds before the second wave.

Let me tell you what I learned from my 10 minutes on this game. I imagine this is a blast if you have a group of friends, all with mics, teaming up to defeat monsters. There is plenty of customisation, from characters, to classes, to weapons. Enough to allow you and your team members to have their own identities and make a badass team. At least after you’ve unlocked them. Not only will the teamwork play an important part in this game, but also inventory management, as you have to manage your ammo, money and weight. Primarily, this is a wave survival game. I’m not even sure if it has a campaign, but what I do know for sure is that there is a huge audience for this type of game and if that’s you, you and your mates are getting it for free (I mean it is free if you’re already paying for online multiplayer, right?), you are definitely going to get hours of entertainment from it. Can’t be bad that, can it!

PS4 – Life is Strange

Life Is Strange™_20160622232621

Life is Strange is an interactive movie type episodic game, developed by Dontnod Entertainment. You take control of Maxine Caulfield, a photography student at the prestigious Blackwell Academy. It’s not long before something happens that changes everything, and our friend Max discovers that she can rewind time. Not just a high school drama, but a mystery game, this character and story driven game will take you on some highs and yet also to some pretty dark places. This is the second PS Plus game in as many months that I already own and have completed!

I do like this game. The art style is gorgeous, the atmosphere is fun to play in, the attention to detail is crazy and the story is haunting. I played the whole game in two sessions (I think it is approximately 10 hours) and for me, Episode 4 was my favourite. I actually wrote a full review on this blog if you would like to read it, but the overall consensus was to play the first episode which you can get free on the PS Store. If you like that then you will no doubt enjoy the rest of the game. Now that the whole game is free it is especially worth giving it a go. It might not be for you, or it might stay with you for a while. Although it is not my favourite game in the interactive movie category, it’s definitely worth playing, and it is many other peoples favourite. To top it off, there is a new game coming out in the future. Be it a sequel/prequel/spin-off, I do not know, but you might as well play the original while you have the chance!

PS4/Vita – Neon Chrome

Neon Chrome_20170606182929

Neon Chrome is a top down, arcade shooter developed by 10tins Ltd. Unfortunately, I am definitely not the target audience of these games so I can’t even tell you whether it is a good one or not. The story seems to be set in some sort of dystopia, where there is an evil dictator with a trust system. If you can’t be trusted, then you die. Your character enters a simulation chair and is working their way up each level of the building, towards the boss, to overthrow him. At least that’s what I THINK is going on. From my 10 minute experience, I managed to get to level two, die twice, upgrade a character, collect money and loot, and shoot things. You use your left analogue to move and your right analogue to aim, which in itself is a system that I do not have the coordination for and would never get used to. I suppose if you like these kind of games then you can make up your own mind but it is 100% not for me. Just a side-note, this game has no platinum, just in-case that is important to you!

PS4/Vita – Spy Chameleon

Spy Chameleon_20170606182943

Spy Chameleon is a colourful, fast paced puzzle game developed by Unfinished Pixel. You are a chameleon, sneaking your way through rooms without getting caught. It is a typical modern arcade game and it is actually pretty fun. You can choose to just complete the level or you can go for the extra objectives including grabbing collectibles and speed running. It’s a great time waster and to be honest, it is exactly the type of game I would like on my phone for those boring times that I am waiting for the bus. For this reason I guess it would be great for Vita players specifically. There isn’t any substance or story behind the game other than completing the objectives but you wouldn’t expect it from such game. Having said that, I have only got to level 15 so someone else could know better. I don’t think it would take too long to complete the game, but it has got a lot of replayability in not only the additional bonuses and difficulties, but the trophies. If you enjoy the game then it seems like a very reasonable platinum. I for one am going to try for it.. eventually.

PS3 – Abyss Odyssey

As I mentioned above, I don’t have time to play the PS3 games at the moment so I will update as I do, but for now I will include a summary for everyone’s benefit. Abyss Odyssey appears to be an indie, side scrolling, action-adventure platformer, developed by ACE Team. Again, this doesn’t seem like the type of game I would like but I will give it the benefit of the doubt once I start going through my PS3 games.

PS3 – WRC 5

WRC stands for World Rally Championship, making this a racing game! It was developed by Kylotonn and released in 2015. Since then we have had WRC 6 in 2016 and are expecting WRC 7 in.. when?! You guessed it.. 2017. Guess what? I don’t really like racing games either. I know what you are thinking, why am I even doing this when I don’t seem to like anything. Well.. I am trying to keep an open mind and I still hope to be proven wrong when I do get around to trying it.

Summary – So, it is my 18th month of being a PS Plus member, and only my first month of trying all of the games. Well.. the PS4 games at least. I am pleased that I did it, not only because I found one game I can sink time into when I eventually get the time, and not only can I tick some of these games off my backlog, but because I can already feel that this is going to give me 1. A broader knowledge and experience of games 2. A more refined, tried and tested list of games that I do/do not like and 3. More confidence to jump into new games in the future. Having said that, I must remember to give the games a fair chance and not just give up after getting killed *ahem Neon Chrome ahem* and not to prejudge a game just because ‘I don’t like that genre’. Ultimately, I am looking forward to jumping into the rest of my line-up, even if I am probably going to end up with a thousand started but not finished games. As for this month of PS Plus, a huge variety, I don’t think anyone can complain!

Note to Playstation/Sony – Please make a semi OCD girl happy and allow us to sort our trophy lists. All I want to do is re-order them. Instead of having the most recent trophy first, allow a custom order. Or at least a percentage order. 5% – 40% – 39% – 18% – 25% – 78% – 100% – 56%. It’s so messy and all over the place, it makes me feel uneasy, and I’m sure I am not the only one. A tiny feature change would make a lot of days, just FYI.

So.. What did everyone think of June’s Line-Up? Love It? Hate It? Stand out games for you? Requests for the future?
